How oft/
have we gathered,/
’tis eventide,/
to listen to calm,/
soothing/
music,/
followed by/
pulpit thunder.
What a great surprise/
and fun joy/
to expect deeply spiritual
teaching,
but first
get Broadway show tunes
and ragtime
from the pulpit instead.
Some wouldn’t applaud.
(It’s the chapel, you know!)
But those
in the know
held up Fosse Fingers
and waved Jazz Hands.

During the Dry Creek Stake Conference (Springville, UT) of the LDS Church, I took notes in haiku form.
Maybe they should be separated, but … that will take too much time!
How can I make a/
big diff’rence in the world? Get/
involved saving souls. 10:27 a.m.
What is taught to me/
In the temple depends on/
My heart, soul and need. 1037 am
If she knows the names/
Of God’s servants, how much more/
Does God know His kids? 1055 am (after the mission president’s wife talked about each missionary in attendance individually).
Don’t try to douse a/
Raging fire of sin with just/
A glass of water. 11:12
Keeping the Sabbath /
Gets hard when you want to be/
With wand’ring children. 1119
Kid’s aren’t the cause of/
irreverence in church. It’s/
what adults think of.
1129 am
Our temple service /
Is an expression of our/
Love and testimony. 1142
I covered my face/
‘Til a child grabbed my hand/
And forced me to see. 1148
She led us with such
Joy that I watched her move from/
Expert to artist. 1202 pm (Watching the choir director /chorister lead music).
