Vacationing Couple Not Engaged Jealousy: Romantic ImproVerse Free Verse Lament

November 21, 2016

Disconnected Couple on the train -- Come On, Man! Pay attention to her!Where had they been,
this connected couple
with vacation luggage
on the train?

What intimate moments
had they shared?
would it continue
now they’d landed
and were on the final leg
toward home?

She looked longingly
at him,
but he was buried
in his electronic device,
reading messages and posts
from those he barely knew.

Yearning for him,
she softly,
gently,
unbuttoned her raincoat,
revealing her
feminine,
pink,
softly-covered
iPad.

She turned it on.

Only then
did he look
in her direction,
not at her sweet face,
her tender hands,
her golden hair,
her luscious lips,
her deep self that had been his.

He glanced,
instead,
at her
flickering screen,
wondering not
what she thought,
(For his ears were plugged)
but what she was looking at.

Satisfied,
he turned back
inside himself.

Jealous,
I wanted to slap him!
“Come on, man!!!”
I thought.

But instead,
I gazed out her window
until I caught her eye.
Then I passed her
a small, sad smile,
as if to say
“I’m sorry.”

If only.

Saving My Daughter’s Life (Please): Revolutionary ImproVerse Free Verse Poetry

September 24, 2012

I understand that you have a full-time job.
I understand that there are 20 pages of paperwork
that have to be filled out.
I understand that the person who has to finally review that paperwork
here in this state won’t be home for two or three days from vacation.
I understand that when the application does get reviewed
it will get need to go to other reviews somewhere else.
I understand that you have other people to talk to
about things that are important to them.
I understand that you have other things to worry about.

But while you’re working
and talking to other people
and your boss is vacationing
and other people are waiting to review the paperwork
that seems to drag on and on and on,
my daughter is dying.

I understand there seems to be nothing I can do
to make you hurry up.

So please understand excuse me if I get a little upset.

Because I don’t understand how vacations,
and work,
and paperwork,
and talking to other people
can get in the way
of saving my daughter’s life.
