Spanish Fork River and Sandy Beach, Utah Lake
He stood on the snowed /
banks of that river alone, /
cold and moon-shadowed.
AND
Dancing with moonbeams/
to the stream’s soft notes was not/
enough to hold her.

On a cloudy Friday morning
I washed my car.
On a sunny Saturday afternoon
I drove down a muddy road
and went to the beach.
Was it worth it?
Oh yeah!
Most definitely!

The pain
pulses
through my peds.
I can’t remember
why I stepped/
onto the ice
and snow,
then
into the gently flowing
melted
river.
Was it to prove
that I could do it?
Was it a memory
of polar bear dips past?
Was it a beach,
and I’s just gotsta?
Or was it just/
to experience the shock
of being able/
to feel
again?

I don’t care what kind/
