Muse Tally: Romantic Blogging Poetry

March 7, 2011

I wonder when
the muse tally
will finally
stop.

When the numbering
of verses
caused by my modern Erato
will cease.

When she will
actually, finally,
disappear
from memory.

When my mind,
heart,
soul,
and fingers

will stop being driven
and inspired
by her visage
in my mind.

When others,
or even just one other,
can count words
inspired by the new her.

It will take
a long time
for anyone else
to match her muse tally.

She has such
a head start
in my head,
and it hasn’t stopped yet.

Gathering Achtung, Baby! Romantic Email Sonnet

November 20, 2010

A hot, built lady
came dancing with me.
We gathered Achtung, Baby!
of all who could see.

Out in the center
of the gym’s dance floor,
they all starred at her,
wishing for more.

The women gazed
and wished they were she.
The men were amazed
at how beautiful beauty could be.

Yet when she left to pursue evening’s slumber,
she only gave me an email, not her number.

Weighted Numbers Weighting: A Revolutionary Poem

April 13, 2010

135: A number I remember from high school.
170: The number on my wedding day
180: A number I was when I tried — and failed — to negotiate back to
170: The number where I wanted to be to “get more…”
199: A number I was 15 years and 4 kids later.
200: The number where I screamed when I saw it.
210: A number where I stopped looking.
220: The number today when I bought the scale and looked again.
(530): A number of someone who inspired me.
190: A number I’ll gladly go back to.
(X): The number of years I’ll add to my life.
