She came,
recovered,/
referred,
not certain of what/
she’d find.
I’ll soon learn.
She only wanted
water,
but got talked
into/
a half-price orange
cinnamon roll.
“Cheap!”
she exclaimed, hearing
“A dollar eight cents”.
And I wondered
if she was enthused
by a good deal,
or ridiculing
her first date’s
frugality.

How do I read negative in?/
Such heartfelt gloom?/
I hear scolding again:/
“U heard it wrong! Go to yer room!”/
So, confident,/
I repent/
and flaunt/
I’m what U want!
