Cute young thing,/
her daddy driving/
their white minivan,/
puts her hands/
out the window/
as we go/
wind surfing,/
smiling,/
with me,/
rocking Queen./
My first freeway dance.

Top down, I smell
skunk,
swamp gas,
fresh-mown hay,
manure,
meatpacking plants,
PIZZA!,
peach orchards with over-ripe fruit,
pine,
diesel,
desert dust,
rain showers,
the lake,
a steakhouse,
and barbecue.
It’s a multi-sensory I-15 drive.
