Somewhere, sometime soon,/
she’ll read what I wrote and, though/
we’re apart, connect.

You, daughter, and I are apart
By physical distance.
By directions of the heart.
By life’s circumstance.
By twists and turns
Caused by poor choices made;
By hard lessons not learned;
By words said and unsaid.
Yet in my heart, mind and soul,
You dwell with me.
Everywhere I go,
You’re with me constantly.
No matter how far apart we may roam
In my heart you’ll always have a home.

I’ve missed you each day/
we’ve been apart. My life changed /
for good with you near.

Written for a friend, to her husband who was away on a business trip:
Dark man, center of my universe:
We look at the stars the same,
the moon the same.
Tomorrow you and I will be together;
though apart, you carry my heart.

Years past/
since I last/
gazed at a full moon/
with someone./
But soon,/
I hope, it will be fun/
once more./
Not a chore/
but a treasure/
2 moonwatch apart,/
2gether.
