Who Really Seizes The Day? Revolutionary Free Verse Poetry

August 23, 2012

People look at me.
They see my travels.
My goings.
My doings.
My “grabbing life fully”.;
My “sucking the marrow out of [my] existence.”

They call me
“Carpe Diem Man”:
The man who seizes the day.

In contrast,
they say,
their life is boring.
Mundane.
Filled with chores.
Watching grandkids.
Visiting parents.
Talking to siblings and friends.
Mentoring youth.
Uplifting others.
Cleaning their neighbor’s yard.
Planting flowers.

Making the world
better
through their actions,
deeds,
words,
love.

Day after day
they do
the same
boring,
mundane,
necessary
routine.

As I pause
from my running around,
from my activities,
from my energy.
I look at them
and what they are doing.

And what they are doing
is making a difference in people’s lives.

So I wonder
who is really
“Seizing the Day”
in a way
that matters?

What Does The Offer Mean: Revolutionary ConTEXTing Poem

February 19, 2011

The offer 2 share
your bed:
Is that for real?
or to steal
a look?
only a look.

Sharing can touch
me
and lead to much
deeper activities.
