Silenced Again: Romantic ConTEXTing Sonnet Lament

She reached out to me again.
Her words struck a familiar tune
She asked if we could be friends;
And maybe speak deeply soon.

We did, and it was like olden times!
We laughed and shared sweet memory.
The tenderness and feeling was sublime.
It seemed like she was turning, again, to me.

But just like in times past,
the silence quickly came.
The feelings I thought would last
came and went. It was the same.

I’d always had to hurry up and wait.
It’s the same lesson learned, discovered too late.
